Maintenance work within the right-of-way includes mowing, trimming of trees and brush, weed control, and upkeep of City entrance signs. The maintenance and construction of sidewalks, curbs, and gutters are also included under this program. A new maintenance procedure is being tried in several areas of the city to correct sidewalk settling. Slab jacking uses a series of holes drilled through the concrete to inject concrete slurry under pressure to raise the level of the settled sidewalk back to grade. Several trials have been completed with favorable results. This procedure is now being evaluated to raise settled sidewalks on a citywide basis.
