Evergreen Playfield Complex

22205 56thAvenue W

The Evergreen Playfield Complex offers 16 acres of prime parkland located in the heart of the city. It includes some of the highest profile recreation facilities in Mountlake Terrace. Along with the athletic field shared with Terrace Park School, the area functions as one large sports complex providing most of the competitive sports facilities for the community.

Adjacent to the Recreation Pavilion and Off-Leash Dog Park, the complex has four lit tennis courts, a newly constructed all-weather lit multipurpose synthetic turf field (E-1/2), one lit baseball/softball field (E-3), a grass multipurpose field (E-4/5) and one soccer field encompassed by a quarter mile track (E-6). Evergreen Playfield Complex provides many amenities including restrooms, a concession stand, play equipment, picnic area, barbecues, and walking trails.

Playground

The Evergreen Playfield Complex playground was replaced with funding from a Community Development Block Grant in 2014 and 2015. This playground has a school aged play apparatus as well as a toddler aged structure. Benches, borders, and wood play chips completed this forest themed playground.

Festivals

Evergreen Playfield Complex is home to a number of annual citywide special events.  Tour de Terrace Seafair Summer Festival is held here each year in late July. The city hosts National Night Out Against Crime at Evergreen Playfield on the first Tuesday in August and the Tree Lighting Ceremony  is held on the northern most field annually on the first Friday night in December.

History

Evergreen Playfield’s original properties were acquired with bond funds, along with the purchase of parcels for the tennis courts and Field #3. The complex was initially constructed in 1976, funded partially with state grants. A parks bond funded further development. Enbom Field #3 (E-3) was named after former Mayor John Enbom who dubbed Mountlake Terrace “the city of quality life.”
