Gateway Plaza

Project Overview
Gateway Plaza is a 2,000 square foot hardscaped area that will serve as a welcoming space for passengers to take a moment while waiting for their train or a ride home from the Mountlake Terrace Station. Serving as a "gateway" to Snohomish County, Gateway Plaza will be the first stop in Snohomish County for light rail.

The City of Mountlake Terrace has contracted with Otak, Inc. to design the plaza. Sound Transit will fund and construct the plaza as part of the Access Enhancement Agreement. The city will maintain Gateway Plaza after construction is complete.

Location
Gateway Plaza is adjacent to the Mountlake Terrace Light Rail Station, just east of the Interstate 5 off ramp. The new road under construction will be named Gateway Boulevard.

Timeline
The design phase is late 2018 through spring of 2019. Construction will take place in 2023-2024 and completed when light rail service begins.
