The City Manager implements the policies and goals of the City Council and provides leadership, coordination and development of City departments. The primary objective of the City Manager’s Office is to manage and coordinate the overall operations of the City, including personnel and labor relations and preparation and administration of the City budget while ensuring quality service and serving the needs of the public. This is accomplished through the expressed direction of the Mountlake Terrace City Council. The City Manager’s Office helps resolve issues by promoting communication among the City Council, citizens and staff.
The City contracts with a City Attorney to provide legal advice to City Council, City Manager, Boards and Commissions, and staff. The City Attorney reviews ordinances, resolutions, and contracts, advises Council and staff at public meetings, conducts research, and represents the city in potential and pending litigation.
